Our Verdict · Travel Insurance
Baggage loss only. Travel is wide open. One guarantee, one reimbursement check, and this card's travel insurance story is complete. $1,250 for carry-on bags. That's the ceiling. File one lost-bag claim and you've seen everything this card can do on a trip abroad. Most cardholders carrying a no-fee card assume they get at least basic trip delay or emergency medical. This card has neither. A fractured wrist in Madrid or a 2-day mechanical delay in Tokyo: every dollar comes out of pocket. No-fee cards rarely cover trip cancellation, but a 6-hour delay benefit has become fairly standard across the market. This card skips that entirely. If business travel is part of your routine, pair this card with a separate travel insurance policy. The baggage protection is a useful bonus, not a safety net.

Real experiences on CDW, purchase protection, and the U.S. Bank transition 876 reviews

CDW saved me on a business rental
Rented a car for a client visit, declined CDW at the counter, charged the full rental to the card. Minor damage in a parking lot. Filed with AMEX Assurance and the process was straightforward. Secondary coverage meant my commercial auto was contacted first, but the card covered the gap. Took about 6 weeks to resolve.

Good for Amazon purchases, not a travel card
The 5% cashback on Amazon purchases is the real value here. The CDW and purchase protection are useful bonuses. But if you travel frequently and need trip delay or cancellation coverage, look elsewhere. The baggage insurance is a nice surprise for a no-fee card though.

Transition to U.S. Bank is a concern
Heard that AmEx is moving this card to U.S. Bank. Not sure what happens to the current benefits. The CDW and purchase protection have been useful but I am waiting to see what the new issuer does before relying on this card for business travel.
